About Sister Shoe

Sister ShoeSister Shoe
I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and continue to be a Chicago Cubs baseball fan. I have nearly 20 years of counseling experience, including seven years at the Betty Ford Center. I earned my license as a professional counselor
in 1996. Previously, I spent nearly 20 years in pastoral ministry, worked in campus ministry and taught grade school boys.

In addition to my spiritual direction ministry, I serve at my local parish, Sacred Heart, as RCIA catechist (for those interested in entering the Catholic Church) and a monthly retreat. The monthly retreat focuses on Ignatian (Jesuit)
and 12-Step spirituality, including the 19th Annotation Retreat of St. Ignatius. Over the past several years, I have facilitated several recovery weekend retreats in several states and in Canada.

My formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts from Maryville College, St. Louis; a Master’s degree in Religious Education from Seattle University; and a Master’s of Science from Creighton University. I received post-graduate
certification in chemical dependency from the College of New Jersey, and certification from the National Counseling Certification Board. This board also awarded me a Master in Addiction counseling.
